What Is Loft Insulation? Loft Insulation acts as a blanket, trapping any heat rising from the house below. The current government standard is a depth of 270mm or 11". If your loft has not been insulated in the last 10 years, it will most likely require topping up. The insulation is installed between and then across the joists. Loft insulation decreases the amount of heat escaping through the roof. The process is quick, clean and FREE or inexpensive to install. Installation typically takes around one hour and includes insulating pipes & water tanks, in addition to insulating and draught proofing the hatch.
